Common Uses for Butterfly Valves

Employing PVC valves to control water within a system is simple and can be immensely rewarding when done properly. These valves are especially useful in home irrigation & gardening systems, homemade fish tanking piping, and other such house software. Now we'll be taking a look at a few different butterfly valve applications and these parts of the equipment are so helpful.

There are so many butterfly valve manufacturer in India and they are produced from PVC or CPVC including butterfly valves, ball valves, check valves, and more. Each type has it's own strengths and weaknesses, however butterfly valves are exceptional within their own body style and how they regulate flow. Having a quarter-turn disc that sits underneath liquid flow while open, nothing else is similar to a butterfly valve. Shared Butterfly Valve Applications

Butterfly valves are a quarter-turn valve which has a metal or plastic disc in the center that moves on a metal pole or"stem" If the stem is still that the entire body of the butterfly, then the disk is the"tails" Since the disk always sits at the middle of the pipeline, the liquid has been slowed somewhat as it rushes through an open valve. These examples are a couple of jobs -- a few specific and some general -- which butterfly valves are ideal for!

Pressurized Software

When pressurized air or other gases have been included, butterfly valves are ideal! These programs can be hard on valves, especially if they open gradually. But if you utilize automatic actuation on your butterfly valve, then it may be opened almost instantly. Guard your pipeline as well as other gear with a butterfly valve! 

Backyard Pools

Pools require water delivery and drainage systems which allow for backwashing. Backwashing is if you operate water backward through a system. This dislodges chlorine and other chemicals that build up in pool piping. For backwashing to operate, valves have to be in the place that enables the opposite flow of water without damaging the equipment.

Butterfly valves are great for this task since they completely stop fluid once closed. They're also very easy to clean because they have such lean bodies. This is important to think about when swimming water is involved!

Space-Restrictive Applications

If you're only normally wondering where to use butterfly valves, systems with distance restrictions are perfect. In smallish spaces, putting together an effective piping system can be challenging. Pipes and fittings do not occupy too much room, but gear such as strainers and valves may be unnecessarily clunky. Butterfly valves usually require less room compared to ball valves and other forms of shutoff valves, making them ideal for flow management in a tight space!

Wafer Butterfly Valves vs. Lug Butterfly Valves

As promised on top of this article, we will now talk about the difference between wafer and lug style butterfly valves. This information can also be located in a prior blog post. Both types of valves do the exact same job (and do it well), but each has its own significant subtleties.

Wafer style butterfly valves have 4-6 holes where alignment lugs are added. These move through the mounting flange on either side and through the valve frame, allowing the pipeline to squeeze up close to the valve on either side. Wafer butterfly valves have terrific pressure tolerance! The issue with this style is that the whole system must be closed down if you want to disconnect the ducts on both sides of the valve.

Lug butterfly valves also have 8-12 holes for attachment lugs. The flanges on each side hook to half of the lugs each. This means that the flanges are each independently mounted onto the valve itself. This makes a solid seal and allows maintenance to be performed on one aspect of the pipeline without needing to shut the whole system down. The main disadvantage of this style is that a lower strain tolerance.
